Crocuses at Cesclans, Cavazzo Carnico

Spread the love

In Preface to Lyrical Ballads, William Wordsworth wrote that poets are closer to nature than ordinary men, because they have ‘a greater knowledge of human nature, and a more comprehensive soul, than are supposed to be common among mankind”. An ordinary man is not able, in his opinion, to completely perceive and enjoy the great pleasure that nature can offer, so the aim of the poet, ‘a man speaking to men’, is to ‘translate’, through his poetry, the emotions he can feel to the other, less perceiving souls.

We are no poets, but, during a walk in Cesclans, when we saw this marvellous blooming of crocuses, we felt exactly like Wordsworth did in the Lake District, when he saw “a crowd of golden daffodils (…) fluttering and dancing in the breeze’, and cannot ‘but be gay, in such a jocund company‘, we ‘gazed – and gazed – but little thought what wealth the show to us had brought’.

No more words are needed: please, look at the pictures and enjoy the beauty of nature in spring with us!
